TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta. Modi is scheduled to visit the largest Hindu site in Indonesia on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Modi will be in Indonesia for three days, from Monday to Wednesday, 6-8 July 2026. Foreign Minister Sugiono revealed the reason for Modi’s planned visit to Prambanan in the current series of visits.
“He plans to visit Prambanan Temple because one of the agreements reached between Indonesia and India is the effort to restore Prambanan Temple,” said Sugiono while welcoming Modi’s arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase, Jakarta, on Monday.
Prior to visiting Yogyakarta, Sugiono said Modi will attend state events at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. There will be a one-on-one meeting between PM Modi and President Prabowo Subianto followed by a closed bilateral meeting.
“Indonesia and India,” Sugiono said, “will sign several memorandums of understanding during Modi’s visit this time. They will cover defense, education, health, and technology development,” said the Gerindra Party politician.

Before getting into the car, Prabowo and Modi were seen watching the None Kemayoran dance performed near the vehicle. The two heads of state watched the dance before getting into the car.
When welcoming Modi at Halim Airbase, Prabowo was accompanied by several members of the Red and White Cabinet. In addition to Sugiono, there were also State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
