The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has announced applications for a full-time Communication Intern position based in Bangkok, Thailand, offering aspiring communications professionals an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the United Nations system.
The internship, hosted by the UNFPA Asia-Pacific Regional Office (APRO), is designed to provide practical exposure to strategic communications, digital engagement, editorial content development, and international development initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region.

Internship to Support Regional Communications and Digital Engagement
According to UNFPA, the selected intern will work under the direct supervision of the Communications Specialist and the overall guidance of the Regional Communications Adviser.
The successful candidate will contribute to regional communications campaigns, digital storytelling, content creation, social media management, and communications planning while supporting UNFPA’s mission to improve reproductive health and advance sustainable development across the region.
Key Responsibilities
The Communication Intern will assist the regional communications team by:
- Supporting the daily management of UNFPA APRO’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Drafting and editing stories, web articles, and social media content.
- Assisting with regional communications campaigns and public awareness initiatives.
- Providing logistical and administrative communications support during events and field activities in Thailand.
- Editing blogs and articles to ensure high editorial quality and consistent messaging.
- Collecting information from UNFPA country offices for editorial planning and content calendars.
- Monitoring digital performance across online platforms and preparing monthly analytics reports.
- Supporting research, document organization, and coordination of virtual and in-person events.
Eligibility Requirements
UNFPA stated that applicants must meet one of the following educational requirements:
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme.
- Be a second-year or higher undergraduate student.
- Be a recent university graduate who can begin the internship within one year of graduation.
Applicants should also demonstrate:
- A strong interest in international development.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- The ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Financial Support for Interns
UNFPA clarified that interns are not paid a salary. However, eligible interns who are not financially supported by another institution, university, scholarship, or government programme will receive a stipend to help cover basic daily living expenses during the internship.
Interns are responsible for:
- Accommodation.
- Travel expenses.
- Medical insurance.
- Other personal living costs.
Proof of valid medical insurance must be provided before the internship begins.
