Malaysia will stay on the MotoGP calendar until the end of the 2031 season after a new five-year agreement was confirmed.

The new deal means that the Malaysian Grand Prix will continue to take place at the Sepang International Circuit from 2027 to 2031. The famous track has been one of the most popular stops on the MotoGP calendar for many years. It first welcomed MotoGP racing in 1999 and has become a favourite with both riders and fans.

Malaysia is an important country for MotoGP because the sport has a large number of supporters there. Every year, thousands of fans travel to Sepang to watch the races. The 2025 Malaysian Grand Prix even set a new attendance record, with almost 191,000 people coming to the circuit over the race weekend.

MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said Malaysia is a very important market for the championship. He explained that the sport has a strong fan base in the country and that the event brings more economic benefits every year. He also said MotoGP wants to continue growing together with Malaysia in the future.

Malaysia’s Minister of Youth and Sports said the new agreement is about much more than keeping a race on the calendar. He believes MotoGP helps the country become a leading destination for motorsport. The event also supports tourism, creates business opportunities and helps develop local talent in the motorsport industry.

The new contract gives MotoGP and Malaysia a stable future together for at least another five seasons. Fans can now look forward to seeing the world’s best motorcycle riders continue racing at Sepang until the end of 2031.
