A WOMAN from Taiping who was reported missing since 16 June has informed her family that she will return home soon, bringing partial relief after nearly two weeks of uncertainty.

The message was sent by Norafiza Zainuddin, 41, via a WhatsApp family group on Saturday.

Her younger brother, Ahmad Zulhilmi, 34, said the message had eased the family’s concerns, although they are still waiting for her physical return before feeling fully reassured.

According to him, his sister said she needed time to calm herself before returning home and apologised for causing worry to the family.

“She did message the family group yesterday saying she needed some time to calm down and that she would come back. She also apologised for troubling everyone.

“But after that she went silent again. We are still waiting for her. Until we see her in person, we cannot feel fully relieved,” Sinar Harian quoted him saying.

Ahmad Zulhilmi said the family had been informed by police that Norafiza had claimed she was suffering from a serious illness, although the details could not be confirmed.

“She told the police she was seriously ill, that is all we were informed. We are still waiting for her to make an official statement. Until now, there is none,” he said.

He added that the family, especially her mother and two daughters, were hoping for her safe return.

Meanwhile, Taiping Acting District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Ariffridzuan Ezahar said police had managed to contact the woman.

He said she informed them that she was safe but needed time to compose herself before returning to Taiping.

“She said she is in good health and will return to Taiping to meet her family and give a statement to the police,” he said.

Earlier reports stated that Norafiza left her home in Taiping to attend a job interview in Kuala Kangsar before going missing.

Her vehicle was later found on 21 June in Padang Rengas, with her personal belongings and car key still inside, but she was not at the scene. – June 28, 2026
