Air Hong Kong to add A330P2F as Cathay expands cargo capacity

Air Hong Kong, the all-cargo airline and wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific, has signed a lease agreement for an Airbus A330P2F converted freighter, further expanding the Cathay Group’s cargo capacity as it continues to invest in fleet growth.

The announcement follows Cathay Cargo’s recent order for two additional Airbus A350F freighters and is intended to support growing demand across the carrier’s regional cargo network while reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as a leading global air cargo hub.

The aircraft will primarily operate cargo services between Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and other destinations across the region on behalf of Cathay Cargo.

It is scheduled to join Air Hong Kong’s fleet in Q4 2026 under a long-term lease agreement with Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) for an aircraft owned by its leasing subsidiary, Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM).

Dominic Perret, director cargo at Cathay, said: “The additional capacity offered by Air Hong Kong’s latest A330 freighter will complement Cathay Cargo’s future A350F freighters, providing us with greater agility to build our regional cargo network and making more options available for our freight forwarder partners.”

Air Hong Kong chief operating officer Agatha Lee said the additional aircraft would support the airline’s regional expansion plans and enable it to take advantage of opportunities created by Hong Kong International Airport’s three-runway system.

“We look forward to welcoming this newest addition to our fleet, which will enable Air Hong Kong to leverage the opportunities presented by the Three-Runway System at Hong Kong International Airport to expand our presence in the region. This marks an exciting chapter for Air Hong Kong as we expand our business to support the ongoing development of the Hong Kong international aviation hub,” she said.

Air Hong Kong currently operates a fleet of 14 Airbus A330 freighters providing express cargo services for DHL Express. Cathay Cargo also operates 20 Boeing 747 freighters alongside the bellyhold capacity available across the Cathay Group’s passenger network, which serves more than 100 destinations worldwide.
