Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has been recognized as the ‘Automobile: Top Exporter’ for FY 2025-26 by the Mumbai Port Authority, reaffirming the company’s growing role in advancing India’s automotive export capabilities and strengthening the country’s position as a global manufacturing hub. The award was presented during the Mumbai Port Authority’s Business Conclave with Partners, where SAVWIPL was acknowledged for exporting more than 40,000 vehicles through Mumbai Port during the financial year. The recognition highlights the company’s sustained export growth and its commitment to producing world-class vehicles in India for international markets.

The award was received by Amit Madan, Vice President – Logistics Region India, on behalf of SAVWIPL. Mumbai Port continues to serve as a critical gateway for the company’s international shipments, enabling efficient access to markets across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and other regions.

This latest recognition follows SAVWIPL’s earlier distinction as the Mumbai Port Authority’s Top Exporter for FY 2023-24, underscoring the company’s consistent performance and expanding global footprint. Since commencing export operations, the company has shipped more than 725,000 vehicles manufactured in India to over 40 countries worldwide.

Commenting on the achievement, Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO of SAVWIPL, said the award reflects the company’s dedication to quality, operational excellence, and customer-focused manufacturing. He noted that India has become an increasingly important production and export base for the Volkswagen Group, supported by a strong local manufacturing ecosystem and a skilled workforce.

SAVWIPL’s export portfolio includes popular made-in-India models such as the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus, along with the Škoda Kushaq and Slavia. In addition to fully built vehicles, the company is expanding exports of automotive parts and components to support assembly operations in various international markets.

Headquartered in Pune, SAVWIPL manages the Indian operations of six Volkswagen Group brands and operates manufacturing facilities in Chakan and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Together, these facilities have a combined annual production capacity of 315,000 units.

The company crossed the milestone of two million locally manufactured vehicles in 2025 and continues to deepen localization through investments in supplier development and advanced manufacturing. Supported by nearly 700 customer touchpoints nationwide and a workforce of more than 4,000 employees, SAVWIPL remains focused on sustainable mobility, innovation, and strengthening India’s role in the global automotive value chain.
