The Rolex SailGP Championship has announced its provisional 2027 Season calendar, commencing on Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour on January 23-24, 2027. This marks the championship’s expansion into Asia and the return of San Francisco after a season-long hiatus, highlighting a total of 13 events across multiple continents.
Hong Kong’s Sail Grand Prix is set to be the season opener, showcasing the excitement of SailGP racing amidst one of the world’s most iconic skylines. This event is anticipated to generate significant commercial interest and provide an exceptional fan experience, as stated by SailGP CEO Sir Russell Coutts. He noted that the 2027 season reflects SailGP’s ambition and the increasing demand from cities around the world wishing to host the championship.
The 2027 calendar will include events in Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, South America, and the Middle East. After Hong Kong, the championship will move to Perth, followed by a series of events in the United States, including San Francisco, Bermuda, Halifax, and New York. The European segment will begin with the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix, followed by stops in Germany and Spain, with a final European location to be confirmed.
Sir Russell Coutts expressed enthusiasm about the strategic importance of China within SailGP’s future growth, particularly given the country’s rise in Olympic sailing and the potential for a future team. The Hong Kong event has also received “M” Mark status, recognising it as an event that meets high standards and affirming Hong Kong’s position as a premier destination for international sports competitions.
The season will culminate with back-to-back events in Rio de Janeiro and Dubai, showcasing the championship’s most visually stunning venues. The final destination for the Grand Final will be announced in due course. Additionally, many events from the 2027 calendar are expected to return in 2028 and beyond, indicating a shift towards long-term partnerships with host cities.
Tickets for the 2027 Season events will be available for purchase soon, with fans encouraged to register for SailGP+ to gain exclusive pre-sale access and priority ticket opportunities.
