More than a dozen Republican state attorneys general are asking the Environmental Protection Agency to set up guardrails around a federal database about US chemical facilities which they say hackers could use for cyberattacks.
In a letter to the EPA, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond (R) and 17 other attorneys general said the agency’s proposed rule under the Clean Air Act governing risk management programs for chemical facilities rectifies “missteps” under the Biden administration. The letter, dated May 11, also expressed concern over sharing too many granular details about chemical storage.
