Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works : MMK opens new building at Yessentuki health resort

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has opened a new building at the Metallurg health resort in Yessentuki, Stavropol Krai. The opening ceremony was attended by Viktor Rashnikov, Chairman of MMK’s Board of Directors; Pavel Shilyaev, MMK’s CEO; and Ivan Nifontov, Deputy Governor of Stavropol Krai.

“The resort was originally built in the heart of the Caucasian Mineral Waters region for Magnitogorsk’s steelworkers but has since become popular with a much wider audience,” said Mr Rashnikov. “Its unique natural setting and high level of comfort encourage guests to return and choose Metallurg time and again. To meet growing demand, we decided to construct a new building and did so in just two years. With one-third more capacity, the resort can now welcome up to 16 thousand guests annually. A significant number of visitors are MMK employees and their families, who benefit from subsidised stays. Our steelworkers work hard and deserve a good rest. This is a matter of principle for us.”

The new five-storey building, with a total area of 6.5 thousand square metres, was designed with a focus on functionality and modern comfort. It includes 95 rooms and is connected to other buildings via a heated passage. A spacious dining hall is available for the convenience of guests. A key feature of the new building is the accessible rooftop – a unique space for climatotherapy and outdoor relaxation with views of the Caucasus Mountains.
