Abu Dhabi – The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the attack on a Korean cargo ship while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, describing such assaults as a direct threat to the security and safety of international maritime navigation. The UAE emphasized that this act of sabotage does not merely target a specific vessel but strikes at the heart of global trade stability, which relies fundamentally on the security of vital waterways.

In its statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that targeting commercial ships constitutes a flagrant violation of international laws and norms that guarantee the freedom of navigation. Abu Dhabi warned that this “dangerous escalation” would negatively impact global trade flows, requiring a firm international stance to deter such practices that terrorize maritime traffic and endanger ship crews.

Calls for Intensified Global Efforts to Protect Energy Routes

The UAE called for the necessity of coordinating regional and international efforts to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, highlighting the importance of collective action to secure strategic maritime routes. The statement noted that the Strait of Hormuz is a main artery through which a significant portion of global energy and goods trade passes. Any threat to this corridor affects the interests of all nations and leads to disruptions in global markets.

Abu Dhabi reaffirmed its commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at enhancing maritime security, stressing that ensuring ship safety is a shared responsibility requiring respect for legal sovereignty over international waters. This firm UAE position reflects the nation’s role as a pillar of stability in the region and its constant keenness on the smooth flow of global trade away from political and military tensions.

The Strait of Hormuz: A Global Artery Under Scrutiny

This UAE condemnation comes amidst growing international concern over rising tensions in the Arabian Gulf region. Observers believe that targeting ships in this sensitive area aims to exert political and economic pressure, which the UAE rejects in its entirety. Abu Dhabi calls for neutralizing waterways from regional conflicts to ensure the unobstructed delivery of vital supplies worldwide.

In conclusion, the UAE renews its demand for adherence to international agreements governing maritime navigation, asserting that the security of the Gulf and the stability of its waterways are an integral part of international peace and security. The UAE remains at the forefront of nations calling for dialogue and cooperation to secure global trade and protect the international economy from the consequences of these irresponsible attacks.
