69th Festival of Sport Swimming Time Trial (2026)

  • April 11-12, 2026
  • Hong Kong
  • Long Course Meters (50 meters), Prelims/Finals
  • Full Meet Results

A trio of Hong Kong Records fell earlier this month at the 69th Festival of Sport. While labeled a “time trial,” the meet is a full blown and important national meet with prelims and finals.

Cheuk Tung Natalie Kan was the best of those record-breaking performers, clocking a 26.34 in prelims of the 50 fly before a 26.50 to win in finals. Both swims were under the old National Record of 26.55 set at this same meet in 2023 by Hoi Lam Tam.

Her previous best time was a 26.67 in March at the Pro Swim Series in Westmont. She had never been under 27 seconds before this season, and has now gone best times three meets in a row.

Kan swam collegiately in the United States at the University of Michigan but is now in California training with Aquatic Sports Performance. A burgeoning pro group based in Brea, California, her training partners include swimmers like US World Championship team member Santo Condorelli.

Her 100 fly has taken off since wrapping her college career as well. A year ago, her best time stood at a 1:00.36. At this meet she swam 59.94, and in Westmont she swam 59.80.

She was one of three National Record breakers at the meet. In men’s racing, Wang Yi Shun swam 4:23.70 to knock almost three seconds off the old record. Peter Whittington swam 4:26.54 at the 2023 Thailand Age Group Championships and hasn’t been faster since, though he was an individual NCAA qualifier for Penn last season.

In the men’s 50 backstroke, Yu Dongqi swam 25.91 to break the old record of 26.00 set in 2021 by Lau Shie Yue. Yu lives in Guangzhou, China.
