Leena Jaisani, Deputy Secretary General and Head of Media and Entertainment at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, passed away on Sunday evening after suffering a cardiac arrest. She had been hospitalised for several days and was on ventilator support before her passing.
Jaisani was associated with FICCI for over three decades, during which she played an important role in policy advocacy and facilitated dialogue among industry stakeholders.
She was closely involved with several key initiatives, including FICCI Frames, a major platform for the media and entertainment sector. She also contributed to efforts to grant industry status to Indian cinema and supported the creation of the Film Facilitation Office to simplify film production processes in the country.
Additionally, she worked on building ties with global industry platforms such as MIPCOM and Rome Film Festival. Within FICCI, her work extended across sectors including intellectual property, retail, FMCG, and digital commerce.
Jaisani was regarded for her significant contributions to shaping policies in India’s media and entertainment industry and for her consistent efforts to drive the sector’s growth.
