TGS, a global provider of energy data and intelligence, announced the availability of the West India Facies Map Browser (FMB), a new sequence stratigraphic interpretation dataset designed to improve exploration outcomes along India’s west coast.

Covering approximately 642,825 square kilometers, the FMB delivers a consistent, basin-scale geological framework that integrates regional seismic and well data into a single, ready-to-use interpretation. By reducing the time required to source, condition, and align subsurface data, the dataset enables clients to move faster from regional screening to prospect evaluation with greater confidence.

Built on a foundation of 65 wells with full sequence stratigraphic interpretation, the FMB includes gross depositional environment (GDE) maps, seismic horizon interpretations, and detailed stratigraphic correlations. This integrated view supports a clearer understanding of basin evolution and helps teams identify remaining prospectivity.

“The launch of the West India Facies Map Browser marks a significant step forward in how geoscientists can access and interpret basin-scale data across India’s West Coast,” said David Hajovsky, Executive Vice President, Multi-Client at TGS. “By integrating high-resolution stratigraphic insights with regional seismic and well data, we are further enabling faster, more confident exploration decisions while reducing subsurface uncertainty. This dataset reflects our commitment to delivering scalable, insight-driven solutions that support the evolving needs of offshore exploration teams.”

Combining well insights with regional seismic interpretation, the FMB provides a scalable solution that integrates seamlessly into existing exploration workflows. From early basin analysis to prospect maturation, clients benefit from improved data consistency, reduced interpretation risk, and more efficient project timelines. With the ongoing OALP-X and recently launched OLAP-XI rounds, this product will provide an opportunity to better understand the key potential reservoir intervals in the open blocks.

The West India FMB is delivered in multiple formats to support a range of technical environments, including desktop applications, web-based access, and Petrel-ready projects, ensuring flexible integration into client workflows.
