The Songkran event on Silom Road in Bangkok ended Tuesday night, with total participants over three days reported at more than 650,000, according to the Bang Rak District Office.

The figures were up significantly from the same festive period last year, when about 250,000 participants partied on the popular street during the festival.

The “2026 Songkran Silom” ran from April 12 to 14, with the water-splashing zone spanning almost two kilometres from Sala Daeng Intersection to Nararom Intersection between 1pm and 9pm.

The final day, ending at 8pm, recorded the highest turnout of 252,265 people, while the first day saw about 164,000 and the second about 236,000, bringing the total to 652,974 participants, the district said.

Wednesday marks the final day of Thai New Year festivities across Bangkok. Major areas still open for water celebrations include Khao San Road, Siam, ICONSIAM, One Bangkok and Benjakitti Park.

The city urged everyone, particularly revellers, to observe the “5 No’s”: no alcohol, no large water cannons, no indecent displays, no powdered chalk or talcum powder and no weapons. It also stressed three safety measures: play politely, look after their health and use public spaces responsibly while keeping them clean.

All festivities should end by 10pm on Wednesday, according to the BMA’s guidelines.
