Malaysia Airlines adds more exciting destinations

Flying with Malaysia Airlines is already one of the best ways to explore Asia, and the Oneworld member’s extensive regional network is now growing even wider.

July will see the start of daily flights from Malaysia Airlines’ busy Kuala Lumpur hub to the Chinese cities of Shenzhen and Changsha.

September will also see Malaysia Airlines return to Fukuoka, arguably one of Japan’s most diverse destinations.

Special introductory Business and Economy fares are now available to all three cities – and those tickets include a complimentary side trip within Malaysia, so you can look forward to two holidays in one!

Malaysia Airlines will fly daily to Shenzhen from July 1, 2026.

Malaysia Airlines will fly daily to Shenzhen from July 1, 2026.

Sitting just across the border between mainland China and Hong Kong, Shenzhen is often described as China’s Silicon Valley.

Electric vehicles glide almost silently around this fast-growing city – after all, it’s home to EV colossus BYD – and Shenzhen is also a popular destination for innovation and shopping.

Take time out to visit the coastal Shenzhen Bay Park, with its walking and cycling trails and views over Shenzhen Bay and Hong Kong skyline.

There’s also the Window of the World theme park, with over a hundred miniature replicas of international landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Pyramids of Giza.

Changsha is your gateway to the wonders of Zhangjiajie National Park.

Changsha is your gateway to the wonders of Zhangjiajie National Park.

Located almost equidistant between Shenzhen and Shanghai is Changsha, the capital of central China’s Hunan province.

Often overlooked by tourists, Changsha balances some 3,000 years of history – dating back to the Zhou dynasty – with a vibrant local culture of lively streets and nightlife.

Key outdoor attractions for this underrated gem include Yuelu Mountain, known as “Changsha’s garden” – the Orange Isle of the Xiang River, dotted with parks and walking paths – and the nearby Zhangjiajie National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its towering sandstone pillars.

Fukuoka is considered to be Japan's street food paradise.

Fukuoka sits on the northern shore of Japan’s Kyushu Island and is often described as Tokyo’s laid-back cousin as well as being the nation’s street food paradise.

After you’ve explored the majestic castles, temples and shrines and spend some time on the beaches lining Hakata Bay, make your way to the unique sidewalk restaurants or yatai, which are little-seen elsewhere in Japan.

Enjoy a bonus side trip

Your return flight to any of these cities – or anywhere else on Malaysia Airlines’ international network – also includes a complimentary Bonus Side Trip.

This lets passengers in transit take a free return flight to one of eight domestic destinations rich in culture, heritage, and natural beauty, such as Langkawi, Penang and Kota Bharu.

The Bonus Side Trip flights are free, with passengers needing only to pay taxes, and they’re fully integrated into the itinerary to make for a seamless journey.

The Malaysia Airlines A330neo experience

Malaysia Airlines’ modern Airbus A330neo jets are now flying from Sydney and Melbourne, with Adelaide to follow on April 16, and Brisbane in the second half of this year.

The A330neo takes the Malaysia Airlines business class experience to the next level thanks to 28 spacious suites with a sliding door for total privacy.

Every A330neo also includes three rows of extra legroom economy seats where you have plenty of space to stretch out.

But no matter which seat you’re in, from the very first row to the last, the Malaysia Airlines A330neo improves the overall passenger experience with a quieter cabin, ambient LED lighting schemes, larger overhead bins – plus Wi-Fi that’s fast and completely free.

Happily, some things haven’t changed.

You’ll still enjoy the warm hospitality of Malaysia Airlines’ famous cabin crew, with gracious service from start to finish (and in business class, that delicious signature satay).

Book directly with Malaysia Airlines

When it’s time to book your getaway, head straight to MalaysiaAirlines.com.

You’ll not only find the best fares plus special rates on add-on services, but also unlock the flexibility of unlimited free rebooking with no change fees for Flex fares (fare difference may apply).

Booking directly through the Malaysia Airlines website or mobile app to enjoy exclusive launch fares for Fukuoka, Shenzhen and Changsha, available for a limited time, with an additional 5% off if you’re a member of Malaysia Airlines’ Enrich frequent flyer program.
