Sadie Sink deletes Instagram from phone, says social media is ‘dangerous’, Entertainment News

Sadie Sink has deleted Instagram from her phone after seeing how “dangerous” social media can be.

The 23-year-old actress has admitted starring on Stranger Things showed her the impact fame can have, and she has learned to step back to avoid getting too bogged down.

She told Tatler magazine: “I don’t have it on my phone right now. I definitely did when I was younger.

“And then once the show [Stranger Things] happened, it became a very public account. It can get so dangerous fast.”

She’s currently appearing in Romeo and Juliet at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End, and she’s glad that the rehearsal room — where she’s spent six days a week between 10am and 4:30pm — has been a phone free zone.

She added: “It’s nice to step away from it.”

Her co-star Noah Jupe revealed he decided to quit social media cold turkey at the start of the year.

He said: “People try and make you think it does [have an impact on your career] but it doesn’t, and I realised it was just not healthy.”

For Noah, he realised that the two and a half hours a day he was spending on social media could be better spent on other activities.

He explained: “So if I took it away, I’d get to watch a movie a day. And that’s what I’ve been doing this year so far.”

Sadie previously revealed how she was “resistant” to opening up about herself when she was younger, and she’s pleased she did so because she thinks it makes her performances more believable.

She told Australia’s Elle magazine: “When I was younger, I thought maybe I needed to be more open about who I was because there’s so much public interest.

“But I was always resistant, and now I’m really grateful because I’d rather people see me as Max than Sadie. If I can leave myself out of it, then I’ve done my job.”
