FaZe kept their last chance — XSE Pro League Guangzhou 2026

In a Swiss format, matches where one series decides not only a local result but a team’s entire future in the tournament carry special weight. It is exactly in these meetings that you see most clearly who can handle the pressure and who loses control in the decisive moment.

Tournament context

XSE Pro League Guangzhou 2026 is played in a Swiss format, where each new round separates teams more and more harshly into those who remain in the fight for the playoffs and those for whom the tournament comes to an end. In 1:2 pool matches, a win allows a team to move to 2:2 and keep its last chance of advancing, while a loss means immediate elimination.

In this match, FaZe and 3DMAX faced each other. For FaZe, it was a survival series and a chance not to let go of their playoff dream, while 3DMAX also came into the game with no margin for error. In the end, there was almost no real fight: FaZe played a fully controlled match and closed out their opponent without any real resistance.

How the match unfolded — FaZe vs 3DMAX

Series score: 2:0 in favor of FaZe

  1. Ancient (pick FaZe) — 13:5
On their own pick, FaZe immediately seized the initiative and did not allow 3DMAX to impose a stable tempo. The European side opened rounds better, took space faster, and converted their mid-map advantages much more confidently. 3DMAX stayed in the match only in isolated moments, but could not systematically answer the pressure from their opponent.
  2. Anubis (pick 3DMAX) — 13:1
The second map turned into a complete blowout. Even on their own pick, 3DMAX found no workable structure at all, while FaZe looked levels more organized in every key component of the game. The series ended in the most convincing way possible: the team did not just edge out the opponent, but completely removed all doubt about the winner.

Player of the Match — Ryan “Neityu” Aubry (FaZe)

  • K–D: 27–10
  • ADR: 83.8
  • Rating 3.0: 1.71

Key contribution: the best individual performance of the series, a stable advantage in duels, and very clean play on both maps that became one of the main factors behind FaZe’s complete control over the match.

VRS results

  1. FaZe — +31 pt → 1475 pt
The win brought FaZe a solid gain in rating points and lifted the team to 23rd place. For the roster, this is an important update at a moment when every win already directly affects not only tournament survival, but also the general perception of the team’s form.
  2. 3DMAX — -10 pt → 1339 pt
The loss cost 3DMAX rating points and dropped the team to 34th place. Elimination after such a one-sided series only underlined how poor the team looked in a do-or-die match.

What’s next?

FaZe move to 2:2 and keep their last chance at the playoffs alive. Their next match will be decisive: a win opens the door to the top 8, while a loss ends their tournament run.

3DMAX finish their participation in XSE Pro League Guangzhou 2026, unable to handle the pressure of an elimination series and unable to offer FaZe even one truly competitive map.

Match summary

FaZe played exactly the kind of match they were obliged to play in a no-margin-for-error situation. The team fully controlled the series, confidently took their own pick, and then dismantled their opponent even more brutally on Anubis, where 3DMAX barely resembled a team capable of turning the game around.

The main difference lay not only in individual level, but also in the overall structure of the game. FaZe played with discipline, punished mistakes quickly, and left no room for a comeback. In the end, it was a completely deserved 2:0, a move to 2:2, and a preserved chance at the playoffs, while 3DMAX leave the tournament after this loss.
