Commerce & Finance’s new office in Guangzhou.

Commerce & Finance Law Offices has opened its Guangzhou office on 22 July, marking the firm’s 12th office after Chongqing and strengthening its presence in southern China and its services across the Greater Bay Area.

The firm already has offices in cities including Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou and Wuhan, as well as branches in New York and Hong Kong.

The Guangzhou office is led by partner Liu Wen, who was previously based in the firm’s Shenzhen branch. “Our Shenzhen and Hong Kong offices have long worked closely together to help clients complete overseas capital markets transactions. The launch of our Guangzhou office will further strengthen Commerce & Finance’s legal team in the Greater Bay Area and enable us to better integrate the resources across the three locations,” Liu told China Business Law Journal.

Liu has more than 20 years of experience, focusing on capital markets, M&A and private equity.

Commerce & Finance said in a press release that the Guangzhou office’s practice covers outbound business expansion, cross-border capital operations, foreign investment compliance, intellectual property and commercial dispute resolution.

The firm said it chose Guangzhou because the city was “a key hub for legal services driven by cross-border trade, foreign investment and Greater Bay Area integration, while also serving as an important gateway linking southern China with Hong Kong, Macau and Southeast Asia”.
