Roger Federer’s $949M fortune: Inside his Swiss estates, Dubai penthouse and private-jet lifestyle

Roger Federer may have just lost his billionaire status — but the tennis legend still has plenty of places to lick his wounds.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion’s fortune has slipped to roughly $949 million, according to Forbes, after shares of sneaker maker On Holding — in which Federer has a substantial stake — nosedived following disappointing quarterly sales.

Still, the 44-year-old retired superstar has amassed the trappings of a near-billion-dollar fortune — including lavish Swiss real estate, a reported multimillion-dollar Dubai penthouse and longstanding access to private jets.

Federer’s flashiest reported property is a sprawling penthouse in Dubai’s exclusive Le Rêve skyscraper, which he reportedly bought for as much as $23.5 million in 2014.

The five-bedroom pad boasts en-suite bathrooms, marble floors, coffered ceilings and sweeping views of Dubai Marina, according to Architectural Digest.

The roughly 6,100-square-foot penthouse also reportedly features an 870-square-foot terrace, while residents of the luxury tower can summon everything from a chauffeured limousine and Ferrari to a helicopter or private jet through its concierge service.

Back home in Switzerland, Federer has assembled an equally impressive property portfolio.

He bought a retreat in the Alpine village of Valbella in 2008, tearing down the existing structure and replacing it with a custom chalet featuring woodwork, open living spaces and, naturally, a tennis court, according to Architectural Digest.

The publication reported in 2022 that Federer still owned the property as well as an adjacent chalet used by his parents and reportedly connected by an underground passageway.

His biggest real-estate project, however, is on the shores of Lake Zurich in Rapperswil-Jona.

Federer bought a sprawling lakefront site there and embarked on a major development that Swiss media reported was still under construction in 2024. Plans have included multiple buildings on the property, which covers roughly 17,000 square meters.

The tennis great has also reportedly owned a glass-heavy, three-story home in Wollerau overlooking Lake Zurich, although reports conflict over whether he still owns it.

Federer’s high-flying lifestyle extends beyond real estate.

NetJets describes him as an “owner and ambassador” dating back to 2004, giving him longstanding access to private aviation. There is no reliable evidence, however, that Federer owns an entire private jet outright.

Likewise, his long relationship with Mercedes-Benz has put him behind the wheel of some of the automaker’s splashiest vehicles, but reports claiming he personally owns a vast collection of luxury cars are difficult to verify.

Federer could certainly afford the toys.

He collected $130.6 million in prize money during his storied playing career, but made far more away from the court.

Forbes estimated around his 2022 retirement that he had raked in roughly $1 billion from endorsements, appearances and other business ventures.

That included a reported 10-year, $300 million Uniqlo deal signed in 2018 after his lengthy relationship with Nike ended.

His most lucrative bet, however, may have been taking equity in On Holding when he joined the Swiss sneaker company as an investor and “co-entrepreneur” in 2019.

That investment helped push Federer into billionaire territory as On’s valuation soared — before this week’s stock rout knocked him back out, according to Forbes.

Scott Martin, a partner at Kingsview Wealth Management, told The Post that Federer’s financial success was driven by his willingness to look beyond lucrative endorsement checks and take ownership stakes in businesses.

“The biggest difference between Federer and many professional athletes is that he wasn’t focused solely on maximizing his next endorsement check. He understood the value of ownership,” Martin said.

“His investment in On Holding is a perfect example.”

“Income and wealth aren’t the same thing,” Martin added.

“Prize money and endorsement contracts generate income, but ownership of appreciating assets is what creates lasting wealth.”
