Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The best performers of the session on the were Renesas Electronics Corp (TYO:), which rose 6.35% or 177.50 points to trade at 2,972.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:) added 5.93% or 495.00 points to end at 8,844.00 and SoftBank Group Corp. (TYO:) was up 5.46% or 247.00 points to 4,774.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:), which fell 5.94% or 131.00 points to trade at 2,073.00 at the close. Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:) declined 4.20% or 1,890.00 points to end at 43,070.00 and Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:) was down 4.04% or 233.00 points to 5,529.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1803 to 1731 and 260 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.63% to 28.40.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 5.39% or 4.45 to $87.04 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 4.91% or 4.44 to hit $94.82 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.27% or 62.10 to trade at $4,817.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.13% to 158.85, while EUR/JPY rose 0.14% to 186.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 98.07.
