COMMERCE CITY, Colorado – Japan fell to three second-half goals in the final match of their three-game women’s friendly series against the United States on Friday.

The loss left Nadeshiko Japan with a 1-2 record in the series under caretaker manager Michihisa Kano.

Goalkeeper Chika Hirao kept the Women’s Asian Cup champions in the game in the first half in Commerce City, Colorado.

But U.S. defender Naomi Girma opened the scoring from a right-side corner two minutes into the second half and forward Rose Lavelle added another in the 56th minute.

Substitute defender Kennedy Wesley, who came on at the start of the second half, made it 3-0 from a left-side corner in the 64th minute.

Japan have now won three, drawn eight and lost 33 of their head-to-head meetings against the United States, the record four-time Women’s World Cup champions.
