Moderate 4.7 Quake Hits Near Modisi, Sulawesi Utara, Indonesia

An earthquake of magnitude 4.7 occurred only 10 minutes ago 117 km southwest of Modisi, Indonesia, Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 118. km beneath the epicenter near Modisi, Sulawesi Utara, Indonesia, in the afternoon on Monday, April 27th, 2026, at 4:17 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.7 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Modisi (pop. 560) located 117 km from the epicenter.
