EA is conducting another round of layoffs, this time affecting a number of workers in remote roles in the US, and employees at its Hyderabad, India office. Reported by Kotaku, the affected roles are in departments such as trust and safety, IT, customer support, and recruitment. No specific number of reductions was announced.
This is the third round of layoffs reported at EA this year. Previously, workers were let go at its Battlefield division—which comprises internal studios Criterion, DICE, Ripple Effect, and Motive. In February, employees were laid off at Skate developer Full Circle.
The news comes as the company is nearing a massive $55 billion buyout by a private consortium that includes Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund.
EA declined to provide comment on the story.
