The inaugural Hong Kong Comic Con (HKCC) 2026 officially concluded its three-day run, transforming the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre into a vibrant epicenter for global pop culture.

As the city’s first Comic Con, the event successfully positioned itself as one of Asia’s largest new platforms for global pop culture, drawing fans, collectors, cosplayers and industry leaders into a shared celebration of creativity. Jointly brought to fruition by Optics Ventures and One Cool Group, the convention united an energetic international community of collectors, cosplayers, gamers and artists, including Louis Koo, Byeon Woo‑seok, Christopher Lloyd, Mads Mikkelsen, Giancarlo Esposito, Norman Reedus, Jamie Campbell Bower, Katie Leung and Daniel Logan, alongside renowned artists and esports personalities.

The official program featured a wide range of highlights, including the HKCC boutique store, which showcased rare collectibles to immersive fan experiences. In collaboration with Signholic, the boutique unveiled over 200 rare Marvel signed pieces featuring Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Hulk and Scarlet Witch, alongside 2,000 signed collectibles spanning DC, Harry Potter, Wicked and Avatar. Each item carried authentication from international authorities such as JSA, Beckett, PSA, or ACOA, underscoring the event’s credibility and appeal to serious collectors.

Beyond merchandise, HKCC offered dynamic live programming. The “Meet the Stars” sessions brought fans face‑to‑face with global celebrities through stage appearances and interactive panels. The convention featured a sprawling Artist Alley that housed world-renowned comic book illustrators, providing deep engagement opportunities for traditional comic enthusiasts. Marvel architect Bob Layton, celebrated for his influential work on Iron Man and the expansion of Marvel’s storytelling universe, brought his legacy of innovation to the Artist Alley. Joining him was David Angelo Roman, known for his dynamic contributions to Rick and Morty, whose bold, animated style resonated with fans of contemporary adult animation. Meanwhile, Agnes Garbowska, a prolific DC illustrator, captivated attendees with her vibrant, character‑driven art that has defined numerous titles across the publisher’s portfolio.

Complementing the retail rush were high-octane experiential installations that kept fans queued up across all three days. The venue hummed with competitive energy thanks to multiple live esports tournaments and exclusive video game previews, while thousands of cosplayers transformed the venue into a high‑impact visual spectacle, reinforcing HKCC’s role as a creative hub for self‑expression and fandom. As Event Ambassador Louis Koo highlighted, this highly praised 2026 debut serves as just the opening step toward cementing a world-class, internationally focused pop culture tradition in Hong Kong.
