Despite a turbulent few months for air travel in the region, Dubai International Airport (DXB) still holds the title of the world’s busiest international airport. But it is set to get even busier over the next two weeks, as it prepares for one of its busiest travel periods of the year. From 2 July, DXB is expecting more than 200,000 passengers a day, with 12 July pegged to be the busiest day, with passenger numbers reaching 225,000.
The end-of-school summer rush comes as many families leave the UAE for July and August, seeking respite from the harsh summer heat. Despite its status as the world’s busiest international airport, passing through DXB is usually a smooth process. However, there are still some things passengers should be aware of during especially busy periods that can help make their airport experience as seamless as possible.
Ahead of the busy period, Emirates and Dubai Airports are urging passengers to ensure they arrive with plenty of time, at least three hours before their scheduled flight time. Emirates is also advising passengers to pass through security at least 1.5 hours before their flight, and be at their gate one hour before departure. Dubai International Airport is also inviting passengers travelling through Terminal 3 to “become part of a living portrait” by seeking out the I Heart DXB pop-up at Concourse B. Passengers can upload a selfie to an ever-growing mosaic celebrating the people, stories and spirit of Dubai before they fly.
Here are some Dubai Airport tips to keep in mind.
