BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) — The initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2023 to invite 50,000 young Americans to China on exchange and study programs in the next five years has been effectively implemented, a think tank report said Saturday.
As of early December 2025, over 42,000 young Americans had arrived in China under this initiative, according to the report titled “Study in China: Contributing to the Building of a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity.”
These participants represented more than 500 schools and institutions across all 50 U.S. states and Washington D.C., with their itineraries spanning 31 provincial-level regions as well as the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region, the report said.
The report was released by Xinhua Institute, the think tank arm of China’s Xinhua News Agency. ■
