Nearly 300K Hyundai vehicles recalled for seat belt issue that could increase injury risk

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Hyundai issued a recall for nearly 300,000 vehicles due to an issue with the units’ seat belt that could increase the risk of injury during a crash.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration published the recall on April 6 after learning of an issue with the vehicles in which seat belt anchors may detach and “not adequately restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.”

The affected vehicles include:

  • 2023-2026 Genesis G60
  • 2023-2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6
  • 2024-2026 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • 2024-2026 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid

The NHTSA said the remedy for the problem was to inspect and reinforce the seat belt anchors for no charge, which would be done at licensed dealerships.

“Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 5, 2026,” the release read.
