TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia’s state-owned railway subsidiary, KAI Commuter, expects the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station will be operational by June 2026. KAI Vice President of Communication Anne Purba said the construction progress is on track with the target completion in May 2026.

“KAI Commuter and the Jakarta Provincial Government are working to ensure that JIS Station will provide better intermodal integration in Jakarta,” she said in a written statement on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

The station will provide direct access to JIS and residential areas. Its vicinity to the stadium is hailed as a tangible solution in reducing traffic congestion.

Anne stated that JIS will strengthen the Tanjung Priok Commuter Line service with a growing passenger trend from year to year. In 2022, there were 1,599,107 passengers, in 2023 there were 2,676,363 passengers, in 2024 there were 3,377,633 passengers, and in 2025 there were 3,531,311 passengers.

Meanwhile, just in three months of this year, the commuter line route served 873,658 people. “The significant growth of commuter line users proves that the train service is increasingly becoming residents’ primary choice,” she said.

This operation is supported by KAI together with the Directorate General of Railways from the Ministry of Transportation. There is an 8.11-kilometer double track from Jakarta Kota to Tanjung Priok to support services on the northern route.

Anne mentioned that KAI Commuter focuses on providing public transportation services with expansive benefits. JIS Station is expected to further support various activities around the stadium and residential areas.

JIS Station aims to reduce the congestion centered on the stadium during large events, both sports games and music concerts.
