Malaysia is expanding efforts to support Malaysians working overseas, while creating new pathways for them to return, contribute and remain connected to the country’s development.

On 8 August 2026, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore, H.E. Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, hosted a working lunch for a delegation from Malaysia’s Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) and TalentCorp. The KESUMA delegation was led by Deputy Secretary General (Operations), Mr Sutekno Ahmad Belon, while TalentCorp was represented by its Group Chief Executive Officer, Ms Biruntha Mooruthi.

The delegation was in Singapore as part of the Working Visit of YB Dato’ Sri R. Ramanan, Minister of Human Resources of Malaysia, held from 6 to 8 August 2026. The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen engagement on employment, talent development and the role of Malaysians abroad in supporting Malaysia’s economic and human capital development.

During the working lunch, TalentCorp highlighted initiatives undertaken by the Malaysian Government through the MyHeart programme, which supports Malaysians seeking to return and pursue employment opportunities in Malaysia. The programme provides assistance through areas including job matching, training and other forms of support to help returning Malaysians navigate their transition back into the Malaysian workforce.

TalentCorp is also broadening its approach beyond repatriation by creating opportunities for Malaysian professionals overseas to contribute to the country while remaining in their current locations. Through networking, professional engagement and knowledge-sharing, Malaysians abroad can support Malaysia’s development through their expertise, connections and respective capacities.

Singapore remains an important destination for Malaysians working overseas and continues to host the largest number of Malaysian professionals abroad. The engagement therefore underscores the importance of maintaining strong connections with the Malaysian diaspora and ensuring that overseas professionals have meaningful avenues to contribute to Malaysia’s future.
