BOURBON’s new IMR vessel begins offshore operations under India contract

(WO) — BOURBON has placed its new Bourbon Evolution 810 inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) vessel into service under a long-term offshore contract in India, expanding the company’s fleet of deepwater subsea support vessels.

The Evolution 810 is the latest addition to BOURBON’s Evolution 800 series and is designed to support complex subsea inspection, maintenance and repair operations in water depths of up to 3,000 m.

According to the company, the vessel enters service as the global IMR market faces an aging fleet and limited newbuild activity, providing operators with modern offshore support capabilities for deepwater developments.

The vessel features an upgraded DP3 dynamic positioning system, enhanced propulsion and power management systems, and integrated capabilities for remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operations, subsea surveys and construction support. It is also equipped with two active heave-compensated cranes rated at 40 tonnes and 150 tonnes, enabling the handling of subsea equipment and structures in challenging offshore conditions.

“The entry into service of Bourbon Evolution 810 enables us to provide customers with an IMR vessel capable of meeting the technical challenges of deepwater operations,” said Stephan Midenet, chief operating officer of BOURBON. “This new vessel also reflects our commitment to continuously modernizing our fleet to meet evolving market requirements.”

The Evolution 810 offers approximately 1,200 sq meters of deck space, accommodations for up to 105 personnel, and is equipped to support a broad range of subsea operations, including diving support, firefighting and oil spill response.

The vessel’s first assignment offshore India further expands BOURBON’s IMR capabilities as operators continue to invest in offshore asset integrity, inspection and maintenance programs across deepwater developments.
