In a bid to shift the focus of capital tourism beyond standalone historical monuments, the Delhi government is set to introduce four new eco-friendly tourism circuits designed to highlight the city’s faith, culture, and lesser-known heritage.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will formally launch the curated routes on August 11 at the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple. The initiative aims to expand Delhi’s travel itinerary past iconic landmarks like the Red Fort, Purana Qila, Humayun’s Tomb, and India Gate, offering structured routes connecting central places of worship and heritage precincts across the city.

Delhi tourism is getting a major upgrade.

Beyond the usual monuments lies a Delhi of faith, culture and timeless heritage, waiting to be explored.

The new circuits focus on long-standing spiritual hubs that often sit outside conventional tour packages. Key locations integrated into the initiative include Gurudwara Rakab Ganj, Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib, Jhandewalan Temple, Chhatarpur Temple, Yogmaya Temple, historic Jain temples, and centuries-old churches.

The four official circuits map out specific multi-faith and heritage stops across the capital:

Circuit 1: Bangla Sahib, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Agrasen ki Baoli, Lotus Temple, and Akshardham.

Circuit 2: Birla Mandir, Jhandewalan, Jantar Mantar, Jagannath Temple, and Yogmaya Temple.

Circuit 3: Hanuman Mandir, Jain Lal Mandir, Ambedkar Memorial, Purana Qila, and Nizamuddin Dargah.

Circuit 4: Rakab Ganj Sahib, Buddha Temple, Church of Redemption, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, and Chhatarpur Temple.

According to the Chief Minister, the curated routes are designed to provide visitors with an environmentally sustainable, low-carbon method of exploring the capital while encouraging longer stays.

Alongside the August 11 unveiling, the state government will host an interactive consultation with tourism stakeholders, including hoteliers, tour operators, and restaurant owners, to discuss operational strategies and visitor facilitation. The following day, on August 12, social media influencers and travel content creators have been invited to experience the new routes to assist in digital outreach.
