Lotte Chemical Titan posts yet another loss

PETALING JAYA: Lotte Chemical Titan Holding Bhd has continued its loss-making streak, posting a net loss of RM174.19mil for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with a net loss of RM173.09mil a year ago.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the olefin producer said the loss was due to inventory write-downs to net realisable value and the Iran war that weighed on demand.

Expenses from the Lotte Chemical Indonesia New Ethylene (Line) project also impacted earnings. This was partially offset by better product margins – supported by higher prices from Lotte Chemical USA Corp.

Revenue was higher at RM3.1bil compared with RM1.4bil a year earlier, on the back of contribution from the Line project, which commenced commercial operations in October 2025 as well as the higher average selling price for the quarter.

Moving forward, Lotte Chemical said it will remain committed to its core markets including Malaysia, Indonesia and the South-East Asian region.
