AIFF Executive Committee meets in New Delhi, confirming squads for the Brazil friendly, ASEAN Cup, and extending Jamshedpur FC’s deadline.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) held its crucial Executive Committee meeting at the Football House in New Delhi, chaired by President Kalyan Chaubey. The high-level gathering brought together key administrators and football legends to address major scheduling updates and pressing domestic club matters.
Key Decisions and Tournament Squads
Among the major announcements, the committee officially confirmed India’s participation in two high-profile fixtures: an international friendly against five-time FIFA World Cup champions Brazil in Kolkata on October 3, 2026, and the FIFA ASEAN Cup in Indonesia from September 24 to October 3, 2026.
To manage the overlapping fixtures, the AIFF announced a unique operational strategy:
“The AIFF will formally notify FIFA that India will participate in both competitions by fielding separate squads for the match against Brazil and the FIFA ASEAN Cup,” the federation stated.
Jamshedpur FC’s Deadline Extended
The committee also reviewed operational preparations for the upcoming ISL season under the new club-led commercial model. Addressing the recent shock departure of Jamshedpur FC, the federation decided to give the club additional breathing room, extending their deadline to reconsider the withdrawal until August 12, 2026. Additionally, Bibiano Fernandes was approved as the head coach of the India U15 men’s national team ahead of upcoming international developmental assignments.
