After taking over social media, supermarket shelves, and dessert menus everywhere, it’s officially reached the frozen yogurt counter.
Pinkberry is the latest brand to put its own spin on the viral dessert, launching a limited-time Pink Dubai Style build. It starts with the chain’s signature tart frozen yogurt, then adds fresh strawberries, pistachio sauce, ruby chocolate sauce, and crushed roasted pistachios―a colorful take on the pistachio-and-chocolate combination that’s made Dubai chocolate one of the internet’s biggest dessert obsessions. It’s available now at participating Pinkberry locations nationwide through August 20th.
It’s an eye-catching take on the trend. But it’s also a good example of what happens when viral desserts go mainstream.
Wait, What Is Dubai Chocolate Again?
If you somehow missed it, Dubai chocolate is a chocolate bar.
More specifically, it’s a thick milk chocolate bar filled with pistachio cream, tahini, and crispy kataifi (shredded phyllo pastry toasted until it’s irresistibly crunchy), inspired by the Middle Eastern dessert knafeh. It was created by FIX Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai and exploded on TikTok back in 2023, with videos of people cracking the bars open to reveal the vivid green pistachio filling racking up hundreds of millions of views.
Part of what kept it viral was how difficult it was to get. The original is only sold in the UAE and doesn’t officially ship internationally, turning it into exactly the kind of scarce, must-try dessert the internet can’t leave alone. Ever since, brands have been trying to recreate it in one form or another.
Which is where things like Pinkberry’s new build come in.
It’s Got The Flavor, Not The Crunch
What makes Dubai chocolate isn’t just the pistachio. It’s the texture. The contrast between the creamy pistachio filling and the crisp, buttery kataifi is what made those cross-section videos so mesmerizing in the first place. Take that away and you’re left with pistachio and chocolate―still delicious, but no longer quite the same experience.
Pinkberry’s version keeps the pistachio (as a sauce), the chocolate (in the form of ruby chocolate sauce), and even a crunchy element. But instead of kataifi, it uses crushed roasted pistachios.
That’s not really a criticism. Kataifi would lose its signature crunch almost immediately once it met frozen yogurt. Crushed pistachios are the practical choice.
But it’s a neat illustration of how food trends evolve. By the time a viral dessert reaches a national frozen yogurt chain, it’s usually less a recreation than an interpretation―keeping the recognizable flavors while adapting them to a format that actually works.
Dubai Chocolate Keeps Getting Reimagined
What’s telling isn’t that another brand launched a Dubai chocolate-inspired dessert. It’s that brands have largely stopped trying to recreate the original bar.
Instead, they’re borrowing the flavor profile.
Since the original went viral, the pistachio-and-chocolate combination has escaped the candy aisle entirely, turning up in cookies, cheesecakes, donuts, milkshakes, ice cream, coffee drinks, and now frozen yogurt. The format keeps changing, but the formula stays remarkably consistent: chocolate, pistachio, a little crunch, and something visually striking enough to earn its own social media moment.
Pinkberry follows that blueprint almost exactly. It swaps the chocolate shell for tart frozen yogurt, adds strawberries for brightness, and uses ruby chocolate to give the dessert its signature pink finish.
Why Everyone Is Still Chasing It
Most viral food trends disappear almost as quickly as they arrive. Dubai chocolate has proved unusually durable.
Part of that comes down to timing. Pistachio was already having a moment before the original bar took off, showing up in everything from lattes to bakery cases. Dubai chocolate simply gave brands a ready-made blueprint to build on.
The other reason is flexibility. Unlike trends tied to a single product, Dubai chocolate is really a combination of flavors and textures that can be translated into almost any dessert. Ice cream, cookies, pastries, frozen yogurt… they’re all different ways of delivering the same basic idea.

Pinkberry probably won’t be the last brand to put its own spin on Dubai chocolate.
