On July 19, at the bustling Qinzhou Automated Container Terminal of Beibu Gulf Port, a cargo ship loaded with auto parts from the Sichuan-Chongqing region was about to set sail for Sihanoukville Port in Cambodia. This marked the successful test launch of the Jiangtiehai (River-Rail-Sea) Intermodal Train on the New Western Land-Sea Corridor from Chongqing Luohuang Port to Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port, laying a solid foundation for the regular operation of future Jiangtiehai intermodal trains.

The test train consisted of 30 forty-foot containers carrying auto parts, jointly transported by the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Chongqing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Chongqing Company) and COSCO SHIPPING. The cargo was loaded at Yibin Port in Sichuan, transported via the Yangtze River Golden Waterway to Luohuang Port, and then shipped by rail to Qinzhou. The operation of this train represents another successful practice of the New Land-Sea Corridor’s efficient connection with the Yangtze River Golden Waterway, as well as a further improvement in the logistics operation level of the Jiangtiehai intermodal trains.

Since 2021, as a subsidiary of the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd. — a joint venture between Beibu Gulf Port Group, Chongqing International Logistics Group, and other companies — Chongqing Company has leveraged its corridor advantages to actively provide high-quality Jiangtiehai intermodal services, promoting the deep integration of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Belt and Road Initiative. The Jiangtiehai intermodal model combines rail, Yangtze River waterway, and sea transport, with ports such as Chongqing Guoyuan Port and Luohuang Port serving as hubs. It coordinates with upstream Yangtze River ports like Luzhou, Yibin, Yongchuan, Wanzhou, and Yichang to further optimize logistics efficiency, reduce transportation costs, offer new logistics options for enterprises, and expand the service network of the New Land-Sea Corridor.

Through multiple client visits, the company’s business personnel identified bottlenecks in Jiangtiehai intermodal transport and collaborated with customs to promote the “multi-transfer, single customs declaration” model, further strengthening the efficient connection of the New Land-Sea Corridor’s Jiangtiehai system. Under this model, clients can complete full-process customs transfer procedures at the entry point with a one-time online application, significantly improving cargo handling efficiency at ports and saving nearly two days in logistics time.

As a key player in the construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, Beibu Gulf Port Group will continue to focus on strategic objectives, optimize cargo organization, expand the scale of sea-rail intermodal operations, and collaborate with partners along the corridor to grow the New Land-Sea Corridor’s “circle of friends.” The group aims to provide clients with more efficient, secure, convenient, and sustainable comprehensive logistics solutions and transport options, further promoting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt’s industrial and supply chains. It will demonstrate Beibu Gulf Port’s commitment to serving the New Western Land-Sea Corridor’s development and integrating into the new development paradigm.
