BNI wins Indonesia Digital Initiative of the Year – Finance at GovMedia Conference & Awards 2026

BNI’s Integrated Financial Portal for School Revitalization routes an IDR18t budget securely to schools nationwide.

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) has been named winner of the Indonesia Digital Initiative of the Year – Finance at the GovMedia Conference & Awards 2026, recognised for a GovTech platform that brings transparency and control to one of the country’s highest-priority national government initiatives in education.

The BNI School Revitalization Dashboard supports channelling the Indonesian government’s approximately IDR18t initiative to revitalise over 16,000 schools directly and cashlessly from the central government treasury to school committees. By integrating financial monitoring with ecosystem financing, the platform also unlocks financing opportunities for MSMEs participating in school revitalisation projects (such as local vendors), underpinning the government’s drive to upgrade educational infrastructure.

A centralised platform for community-led revitalisation

Developed in alignment with Indonesia’s national agenda to modernise schools, the initiative supports the School Revitalization (Revitalisasi Sekolah) programme through a platform purpose-built for the Swakelola, or community-led, management model. The programme strategically prioritises funding for schools with heavy structural damage and those located in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped areas, ensuring that resources reach the communities that need them most.

Rather than disbursing funds through intermediaries, the dashboard enables secure, cashless routing of the budget directly to verified school committee accounts, protecting from potential leakage and strengthening accountability across the national portfolio.

Governance and visibility at national scale

A core function of the platform is to give the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kementerian Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah) complete command and visibility over the revitalisation effort. The dashboard delivers three critical governance capabilities: end-to-end financial tracking, fund compliance assurance, and monitoring at a national scale. Together, these tools allow the Ministry to follow every rupiah from the treasury to the schoolyard, verifying that funds are spent as intended.

Turning data into economic opportunity

The platform’s value extends beyond project oversight by fostering a transparent financial ecosystem for local vendors involved in the revitalisation efforts.

This improved financial transparency facilitates better access to microfinancing and working capital loans to surrounding micro-enterprises, particularly local building material suppliers, ensuring they have the financial capacity to meet project demands. In doing so, the initiative not only rebuilds schools but also strengthens the local economies around them.

BNI’s Integrated Financial Portal for School Revitalization demonstrates how a financial institution can act as a trusted technology partner to the government, combining secure fund disbursement, real-time monitoring, and inclusive financing within a single platform.
