Maintained ‘AA’ Grade for Second Consecutive Year

Bukwang Pharmaceuticals announced on July 6 that it received an ‘AA’ grade in the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) assessment for the first half of this year, as published by Sustinvest, an ESG-specialized evaluation agency. With this achievement, Bukwang Pharmaceuticals has maintained its ‘AA’ grade for two consecutive years, following last year.

In the comprehensive ESG evaluation for the first half of this year, Bukwang Pharmaceuticals scored 95.05 out of a possible 100 points, ranking 8th among 106 companies in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences sector. The company received an ‘A’ grade in 2024 and has maintained the ‘AA’ rating from 2025 through the first half of this year.

Sustinvest, which introduced ESG evaluation in Korea for the first time in 2006, assesses the ESG management level of approximately 1,300 listed and unlisted companies twice a year.

For the first half of this year, a total of 1,305 companies were classified by industry and comprehensively evaluated on their management status related to environment (E), social (S), and governance (G). Seven grades were assigned, ranging from AA to E (AA-A-BB-B-C-D-E).

In the latest comprehensive ESG evaluation by Sustinvest, Bukwang Pharmaceuticals received high marks in the innovation activities and production process categories within the environmental sector. The company also scored well in human resource management within the social sector, and in the shareholders’ rights and board composition and activities within the governance sector.

In its ESG report, Sustinvest stated, “Bukwang Pharmaceuticals’ ESG rating for the second half of this year falls within the investment-grade category,” and explained, “Ongoing ESG management is required to ensure that the highest grade can be steadily maintained.”

A representative of Bukwang Pharmaceuticals emphasized, “This Sustinvest evaluation is a recognition of Bukwang Pharmaceuticals’ capabilities in ESG management,” and added, “We will continue to faithfully implement ESG management going forward.”
