A Culinary Tribute Combining Indonesian Heritage, Global Gastronomy, and Social Impact

Gran Meliá Jakarta proudly celebrated its 30th Anniversary with a remarkable culinary milestone, successfully earning a Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia (MURI) recognition through the creation of a spectacular 30-Meters Beef Rendang Wellington.

Held at the Lobby Lounge of Gran Meliá Jakarta, the event brought together distinguished guests, business partners, media representatives, and hospitality industry stakeholders to commemorate three decades of excellence, innovation, and heartfelt service.

The centerpiece of the celebration was the unveiling of the 30-Meters Beef Rendang Wellington, a unique culinary creation that seamlessly blended one of Indonesia’s most iconic dishes, Rendang, with the classic sophistication of the internationally renowned Beef Wellington. The ambitious creation was designed by the culinary team under the helmed of Executive Chef David Marteau, as a symbolic representation of Gran Meliá Jakarta’s 30-year journey, reflecting its commitment to culinary excellence and cultural appreciation.

“Reaching our 30th anniversary is a significant milestone for Gran Meliá Jakarta. This achievement reflects the dedication of our team, the trust of our guests, and the strong support of our partners throughout the years,” said Jeronimo Molina, General Manager of Gran Meliá Jakarta. “Through this MURI record achievement, we wanted to create something memorable that celebrates Indonesian culinary heritage while showcasing the creativity and innovation that define our hotel.”

The event commenced with welcoming remarks from hotel leadership and key stakeholders, followed by a presentation from the Executive Chef David Marteau, who shared the inspiration and meticulous planning behind the record-setting creation. The event also highlighted Gran Meliá Jakarta’s commitment to creating a positive social impact through its collaboration with Food Cycle Indonesia, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing food waste and addressing food insecurity by redistributing surplus food to communities in need. Through this partnership, the celebration extended beyond culinary achievement, reinforcing a shared commitment to sustainability, responsible consumption, and community welfare.

Following the official unveiling, Gran Meliá Jakarta was honored with the presentation of the MURI Record certificate, handed by MURI Representative Osmar Semesta Susilo, Vice Director, marking a significant milestone in the hotel’s 30-year journey. The celebration continued with a ceremonial cutting of the actual 31.5-Metre Beef Rendang Wellington, followed by a tasting session where guests were invited to enjoy the record-setting culinary creation firsthand.

The event concluded with a commemorative group photo featuring the culinary team behind the creation, recognizing the dedication, teamwork, and craftsmanship that made the achievement possible.

As Gran Meliá Jakarta marks three decades of hospitality excellence, the hotel remains committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences, celebrating cultural diversity, and creating meaningful moments that connect people through hospitality, gastronomy, and innovation. Reflecting Gran Meliá’s philosophy of “A Life Well Lived,” the hotel continues to create memorable experiences where luxury, culture, and genuine connections come together to enrich every stay.
