Hong Kong’s prison service has twice withdrawn an anti-drug public service announcement featuring an AI-generated K-pop girl group. It was forced to do so after internet users said the ad resembled a promotional campaign for illegal substances. Posts of selfies, sticker packs, image sets, ads, fan pages and song parodies mocking the virtual girl band have since been appearing all over social media.
