NorthLinks Bio, a Boston, Massachusetts-based and Scottish-founded clinical-stage biotechnology company developing broad-spectrum antiviral preventative medicines, officially launched after securing $34m in funding.
RA Capital Management made the investment.
The company intends to use the funds to advance its lead intranasal prophylactic antiviral candidate toward Phase 2b readiness, expand its proprietary glycan-targeted platform, support ongoing manufacturing operations, and establish its primary corporate infrastructure in the United States.
Led by Chief Executive Officer Fanny Cavalié, NorthLinks Bio develops “HEX17,” a convenient self-administered intranasal spray engineered as a multivalent carbohydrate-binding module (mCBM) designed to mask host sialic acid cell receptors and prevent viral entry before respiratory infections begin.
The company emerged from a corporate reorganization of UK-based Pneumagen Ltd., has completed human challenge studies demonstrating an approximate 50% reduction in symptomatic influenza infection.
NorthLinks Bio is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, with research operations in St Andrews, Scotland.
