E.F. Hutton Appoints Healthcare Banker and Former Biotech CEO Bryan Kobel as Managing Director

Bryan Kobel

E.F. Hutton & Co. has appointed healthcare investment banking veteran Bryan Kobel as managing director, strengthening its healthcare advisory platform as demand for capital markets and strategic advisory services continues to evolve across the life sciences sector.

The New York-based investment bank said Kobel’s appointment expands its ability to advise biotechnology, pharmaceutical and growth-stage healthcare companies on financing strategies, public market transactions and strategic alternatives.

Kobel returns to E.F. Hutton after previously serving as managing director and leading the firm’s healthcare investment banking practice. His reappointment comes as healthcare companies navigate a more selective capital markets environment, requiring specialized expertise in fundraising, investor engagement and transaction execution.

“Bryan brings a rare combination of healthcare capital markets experience and first-hand public company operating leadership,” said Joseph T. Rallo, chief executive officer of E.F. Hutton. “Having advised growth companies and led a biotechnology company through the public markets, he understands the strategic, financing and execution challenges facing healthcare issuers today.”

The hire reflects broader trends across healthcare investment banking, where firms are increasingly seeking executives who combine advisory experience with operational leadership. As biotechnology and life sciences companies face longer development timelines, complex regulatory pathways and shifting investor expectations, advisors with firsthand executive experience can provide additional strategic insight beyond transaction execution.

Kobel’s background spans both investment banking and public company leadership. In addition to advising healthcare companies on capital markets transactions, he has served as chief executive officer of a publicly traded biotechnology company, giving him direct experience managing the challenges associated with public company operations, investor relations and corporate growth initiatives.

That dual perspective is expected to strengthen E.F. Hutton’s advisory capabilities for healthcare issuers seeking access to public markets or evaluating strategic transactions. The healthcare sector remains one of the most active areas for capital formation, despite periodic fluctuations in market conditions, as companies continue to seek funding for clinical development, commercialization and expansion efforts.

“E.F. Hutton has built a powerful platform for growth companies seeking access to the public markets,” Kobel said. “I am excited to rejoin the firm and help expand its healthcare investment banking practice by delivering strategic guidance, capital markets expertise and execution support to companies across the life sciences sector.”

The appointment comes as investment banks continue competing to build specialized industry expertise in sectors where technical knowledge and regulatory understanding are critical. In healthcare, successful advisory relationships often require a combination of scientific, financial and operational insight, particularly when advising emerging biotechnology companies and medical innovators.

E.F. Hutton provides investment banking, advisory and financing services to corporate clients, sponsors and public-private partnerships. The firm offers a range of services including capital markets transactions, private placements, PIPE financings, mergers and acquisitions advisory, and strategic financing solutions.

With operations spanning the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, the firm has continued expanding its sector-focused advisory capabilities as it seeks to serve companies navigating increasingly global capital markets.

Kobel’s return reinforces E.F. Hutton’s commitment to healthcare investment banking and positions the firm to deepen its relationships across the life sciences ecosystem as companies pursue financing, strategic partnerships and growth opportunities in an increasingly competitive market.
