Raaw Energy issues voluntary recall of dog food

HOWELL, NJ. — Raaw Energy is voluntarily notifying the public of a recall of its dog food produced between July 17, 2025, and Dec. 23, 2025, due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. In addition, its Beef and Turkey Medley product from batch date March 31, 2026, is also being recalled. The recall builds on the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA)’s advisory on the company’s products from earlier this year.

The Raaw Energy products in question were distributed to customers in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Products are ordered through the company’s website and picked up in person by customers.

The dog food is packaged in 2-lb and 5-lb clear plastic tubes sealed on each end with a metal clip. Products are sold frozen in boxes containing five to 20 tubes. Each box features a stick-on label identifying the product flavor, ingredients and date code — the products are not labeled with lot codes.

Testing conducted by the New Jersey Department of Agriculture showed positive results for Listeria monocytogenes in some of the product samples. Though not all  product was tested or came up positive for the pathogen, the company is asking customers to treat the products as potentially contaminated, and to dispose of products safely. View the full list of impacted products.

“To better serve our customers, we will be temporarily stopping all production of dog food effective May 21, 2026. This pause is necessary so we can carefully evaluate current issues, address them properly and take appropriate corrective actions,” Raaw Energy shared. “As part of this process, we will be resurfacing key areas to make them smoother, more sanitary and easier to clean. All drains and sewer lines will be thoroughly cleaned and treated, and additional cleaning efforts will be made on the evaporators. We will be strengthening our quality control measures. We will be purchasing a pathogen detection system and testing every batch to help ensure the safety and quality of our products.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. As a small business, we are committed to doing the right thing and correct any issues,” it added.
