In a notable humanitarian initiative, the South-West District Police have managed to reunite 194 missing individuals—including 45 children and 149 adults—with their families during April 2026 under the ongoing drive titled “Operation Milap.”

As per official figures, these recoveries were carried out between April 1 and April 30, 2026, through a well-coordinated and intensive search campaign. The operation underscores the police force’s sustained commitment to locating missing persons and ensuring their safe return to their homes. From the start of the year until now, a cumulative total of 542 missing individuals—consisting of 143 minors and 399 adults—have been successfully traced and reunited with their families across the district.

Officials stated that prompt action was initiated immediately upon receiving reports of missing or abducted persons. Police teams undertook extensive search efforts, combining conventional investigative methods with modern surveillance tools. CCTV footage was carefully scrutinised, and photographs of the missing individuals were widely circulated at strategic public points such as bus terminals, railway stations, as well as auto and e-rickshaw stands.

In addition, investigators carried out detailed local enquiries, interacting with transport personnel, shopkeepers, vendors, and local residents to gather information about movements. Informers were also actively involved in the process, while records from nearby police stations and hospitals were thoroughly checked to identify possible leads.

A closer look at the station-wise performance reveals the scale and reach of the operation. Police Station Kapashera recorded one of the highest recoveries, successfully tracing eight minor children along with 21 adults. Likewise, the Delhi Cantt. police team managed to locate 30 individuals, including one minor boy. The District Missing Persons Unit (DMPU) emerged as a key contributor, tracing 59 individuals, while the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) successfully rescued 14 minor children. Several other police stations—including Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj North and South, Palam Village, Sagarpur, Sarojini Nagar, South Campus, Kishangarh, and S.J. Enclave—also played a vital role in the operation, tracing multiple missing children and adults during this period.

Authorities highlighted that all individuals who were recovered were safely reunited with their families after completing due verification processes and fulfilling necessary legal formalities. The police attributed this success to strong teamwork, active community participation, and a compassionate, victim-centric approach in handling such sensitive cases.

“Operation Milap goes beyond mere statistics—it is about restoring hope and providing much-needed relief to families facing distress,” a senior officer remarked.

With steady achievements and a focus on community-oriented policing, the South-West District Police are continuing to intensify their efforts in addressing cases of missing persons, thereby strengthening public confidence and ensuring safety across the region.
