Hong Kong men’s lacrosse head coach believes ‘future bright’ for sport after winning gold

Hong Kong men’s lacrosse head coach believes “the future is bright” for the sport in the city after his team won gold and the women’s squad claimed silver at the 2026 Asian Lacrosse Games in Chengdu.

Taking charge of his first tournament, Kevin Crowley was satisfied with the team’s overall performance and the 12-9 victory over China in the final.

“This is a very good team. Our coaching staff introduced new tactical concepts and asked some players to take on different roles and they all fully bought in. That was the key to our success,” Crowley said. “It is every coach’s dream to work with players like these. The future of Hong Kong lacrosse is bright.”

The men’s final was a tight affair in the first two quarters before Hong Kong pulled away after half-time.

Baron Lee Chun-long and Cheung Wing each scored four goals, while Glen To put the result beyond doubt with one minute and 18 seconds remaining.

“We had a clear tactical plan before the competition and knew how to succeed in the games. The players executed it very well throughout the event, and they improved with every match,” Canadian Crowley said.
