Malaysian law firm Christopher & Lee Ong has advised on Empire Premium Food’s listing on the Bursa Malaysia, which raised around MYR154.7 million (USD39 million) and achieved a market capitalisation of MYR1.2 billion (USD303 million) on debut.

The firm acted for the underwriters Maybank Investment Bank in connection with the IPO.

Partner and deputy head of capital markets Justin Chua led the Christopher & Lee Ong team.

“Our team is proud to have supported the successful listing of a homegrown Malaysian brand on Bursa Malaysia and we believe this will serve as an inspiration to other SMEs in Malaysia, demonstrating possibilities available through the Malaysian capital markets channel,” Chua told Asia Business Law Journal.

Kuala Lumpur-based boutique law firm Foong & Partners acted as Empire Premium Food’s counsel.

Empire Premium Food operates the Empire Sushi retail chain, which has 143 outlets across 13 states and two federal territories in Malaysia.
