No bin collections on bank holiday Monday (May 25)

There are no bin or recycling collections taking place on bank holiday Monday (May 25). If your usual collection day is Monday, you will get your collection on a revised date.

If you are expecting a garden waste collection on Tuesday, May 26, this has also been rescheduled to a different date.

All other collections for the remainder of the week are unaffected, and residents will receive these as usual.

Revised collection dates

  • If you were due to have a black/blue bin and recycling collection on Monday, May 25 your black/blue bins will be collected on Tuesday, May 26 instead, and you can put out any extra recycling for us to collect on Monday, June 1.
  • If you were due to have a garden waste and recycling collection on Monday, May 25 your garden waste will be collected on Wednesday, May 27 instead, and you can put out any extra recycling for us to collect on Monday, June 1.
  • If you were due to have a garden waste and recycling collection on Tuesday, May 26 your garden waste will be collected on Thursday, May 28 instead. You will receive your recycling collection as usual on Tuesday, May 26.

Garden waste collections

If we are unable to collect your garden waste on your scheduled date, please leave it out and we will try to collect it by the end of the week.

Check your bin day

Checking your bin day shows your next four collection dates and which bins and recycling you should put out. You won’t need to sign in to check your bin day, and you can check for friends, family members and neighbours by simply typing in their postcode or street.

Bin reminder emails

Another way you can stay up to date is by signing up to receive our bin reminder emails. If you do this, you’ll get an email to remind you to put your bins out the day before your collection is due. It’s a good way for us to let you know about any changes that affect you as well.

If your recycling boxes get full, you can leave any extra recyclables in solid containers next to your other recycling on your collection day and we’ll recycle the materials (leaving the containers behind for you to reuse again).

But if you do have extra recycling, please separate the materials as you usually would…for example, if you have extra plastic bottles and glass, please put the plastic in one container and the glass in a separate container.

Also, we will collect clean, flattened cardboard left by recycling containers if it is no larger in height or width than a standard issue blue sack.

Recycling centres

Don’t forget, the recycling centres will be open on bank holiday Monday if you need to use them.

Bryn Lane is open from 8am-8pm. Plas Madoc and Brymbo (The Lodge) are open 9am-8pm.

All types of batteries, used vapes, carpet, plastic garden furniture, mattresses, paint, scrap metal and weathered timber are just some of the things that can be recycled. See the full list on our website.

Food waste – we offer free caddy liners

You can get our free caddy liners by simply tying an empty liner to your caddy handle on your collection day and the recycling crew will leave you a new roll.

Or, if you prefer, you can collect the free caddy liners (as well as replacement blue sacks) at a variety of locations in Wrexham, including a number of convenience stores, estate offices, libraries and recycling centres.
