Aviation sector will need 35,000 pilots, 34,000 technicians in 10 years, says expert

At a session on careers in aviation, R. Asokan, Dean of Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, said there will be a need for 35,000 pilots and 34,000 technicians in 10 years, and the market demand will be very high in India.

Air transport is an essential contributor to the economy, he said, while speaking at a session titled “Careers in Aviation: Pathways beyond the cockpit” at the The Hindu Education Plus “Career Counselling Fair’26” presented by VIT Chennai, on Saturday.
