Peugeot E-208 GTi starts at €42,900

The market for sporty battery-electric compact cars continues to grow as Peugeot opens the order books for the E-208 GTi. When the French Stellantis brand unveiled the concept version in June 2025, it set out to bring the classic ‘hot hatch’ formula into the electric era. The result is a compact hatchback designed to combine everyday practicality with sports-car performance in a fully electric package.

The E-208 GTi is powered by the M4+ electric motor, which delivers 207 kW and 345 Nm of torque. Peugeot states that the model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than initially announced. It also completes the 0–1,000-metre sprint in 25.8 seconds and accelerates from 80 to 120 km/h in 3.2 seconds. Top speed is limited to 180 km/h.

“This work on electronic motor control is at the very heart of our expertise,” said Christophe Auriault, Project Leader for the Peugeot E-208 GTi at Peugeot Sport, commenting on the electric motor. “It draws directly on the know how gained in motorsport and transfers it from the circuit to the road. The skills used for the development of E-208 GTi, are the same ones that can be found when working on the 9X8.”

The E-208 GTi uses the same battery as the standard E-208, with a gross capacity of 54 kWh and 51 kWh of usable energy. However, Peugeot has adapted the battery management system to meet the requirements of the M4+ electric motor. The company focused in particular on the coolant flow strategy to ensure the battery can consistently deliver maximum performance under all driving conditions. Peugeot quotes a range of 374 kilometres.

Some of these specifications may sound familiar. The Peugeot E-208 GTi shares its technical foundation with the Opel Corsa GSE,which debuted last month. Both brands are part of Stellantis, and both models are based on the group’s e-CMP platform. As a result, they use the same battery and offer identical motor output.
