Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung on Wednesday received executives from B-Universe Media Holdings for discussions on a range of urban issues, with public transportation emerging as the main topic.

The meeting, which lasted around 20 minutes at Jakarta City Hall, covered the development of the capital’s transportation system, which Pramono said is now ranked 17th globally among cities with the best public transportation systems.

Pramono said the TransJakarta bus network currently reaches 92.5% of Jakarta’s area and serves around 1.4 million passengers daily.

In addition to TransJakarta, the city government continues integrating rail-based transportation services, including MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, and the KRL Commuter Line.

Pramono said the Jakarta administration would continue urban improvement programs, including completing projects inherited from previous administrations.

Beyond transportation, he also discussed waste management efforts aimed at reducing pressure on the Bantargebang Landfill, the main waste disposal site serving Jakarta.

The B-Universe delegation was led by Executive Chairman Enggartiasto Lukita alongside Chief Executive Officer Rio Abdurachman, Deputy CEO Apreyvita Wulansari, and editors-in-chief from media outlets within the group.

In a separate event earlier, Pramono told reporters that construction of the next light rail transit corridor remains one of the city’s top priorities.

The planned 2-kilometer extension project carries an estimated budget of Rp 2.7 trillion ($152.5 million).

Under the expansion plan, the existing Velodrome–Manggarai LRT route will be extended to Dukuh Atas, bringing the total rail length to 14.2 kilometers.

After completion of the Velodrome–Dukuh Atas segment, the LRT network will continue expanding northward from Velodrome.

“From Velodrome, the line will later continue to Jakarta International Stadium, Ancol, and the Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 area. Eventually, the LRT network will also connect to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport,” Pramono said.
