Continuing 22 Years of Consistency, DBL Presents New Season Themed “Home of the Dreamers” – OBSERVER

Jakarta, IO – Coinciding with National Children’s Day, celebrated every July 23rd, DBL Indonesia officially launched the Honda DBL with Kopi Good Day 2026-2027 program at DBL Academy Jakarta on Tuesday (July 21st). This launch affirms DBL’s position as an ecosystem that provides space for Indonesian children to play, learn, grow, and pursue their dreams. In line with this season’s theme, “Home of the Dreamers.”

Concurrently with this launch, DBL Indonesia officially opened DBL Academy Jakarta, which previously hosted the DBL Camp training center last May. Located in Asya, one of Astra Land Indonesia’s projects, East Jakarta, DBL Academy Jakarta is the fourth branch, following two branches in Surabaya and Yogyakarta.  DBL Academy itself first opened 10 years ago, in Surabaya in 2016.

DBL Academy takes a different approach than most basketball academies or clubs. DBL Academy students (aged 3-18) learn not only basketball fundamentals but also character development and nutrition knowledge. The training program is based on the World Basketball Academy (WBA) Australia curriculum.

All DBL Academy branches offer international-standard training facilities and equipment.

They utilize FIBA Level One courts, commonly used in international events such as the FIBA World Cup, FIBA Qualifiers, and NBA matches. DBL Academy Jakarta even features international-standard tennis courts.

The launch of DBL Academy Jakarta marks a significant milestone in the Honda DBL with Kopi Good Day 2026-2027 launch series.  The presence of this academy complements the ecosystem that DBL has built, providing more young people with the space to participate, play, learn, and develop themselves through basketball.

In line with this spirit, DBL Indonesia also officially opened the new season of Honda

DBL with Kopi Good Day 2026-2027. This season’s league will kick off on August 6th with Surabaya as the opening city. The competition returns to 31 cities and 22 provinces across Indonesia, continuing DBL’s consistent track record of expanding student participation through Indonesia’s largest sports competition for over two decades.

“We are launching this ahead of National Children’s Day because we believe every child has a dream. Dreams need a place to grow. DBL wants to continue to be a place where young Indonesians discover their dreams, develop them, and then have the courage to pursue them,” said DBL Indonesia Founder and CEO Azrul Ananda.

The Head of the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr. Maria Veronica Irene Herdjiono, expressed her appreciation for DBL Indonesia’s presence as a student sports ecosystem.  Moreover, DBL focuses not only on competition but also on the holistic development of students through a student-centered, inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable approach.

He also encouraged schools in Indonesia to utilize DBL as a platform for talent development, as the competition has been curated by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas).

This year, the DBL competition also received recognition from the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) through recognition from the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas). Every achievement achieved by DBL students will receive a certificate from Puspresnas.

The existence of the DBL league for 22 years has proven to be more than just a platform for young people to pursue their basketball dreams. The professional values they instill during competition also serve as capital for them to pursue professional careers in other fields. DBL alumni not only grace the roster of professional basketball players and even the national basketball team. Some of them also pursue their dreams in other fields.

For example, there’s Viknes Waren. Viknes has recently gone viral on social media due to her modeling talent, which has seen her appear in various fashion shows abroad, most recently in France.

There’s also Dita Karang, who brought the exciting news that the DBL Dance alumna has become a member of the K-Pop girl group Secret. The two names mentioned above are alumni of DBL Jogjakarta. Elsewhere, there’s Nahal Rizaq, a DBL Lampung alumna who successfully graduated from the Police Academy (Akpol), also known as Adhi Makayasa.

DBL’s commitment to facilitating young people in achieving their dreams and gaining experience is also demonstrated through its All-Star program. At the launch, DBL Indonesia also announced the release of the elite Kopi Good Day DBL Indonesia All-Star 2026 squad, consisting of 24 players and two top coaches selected by DBL Camp. They are scheduled to depart for the United States on July 22.

There, they will attend a basketball clinic, watch the WNBA All-Star Game, and participate in the 24th Annual National Summer Classic 2026 international tournament.

This tournament will feature strong teams from the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Indonesia.

Teacher Appreciation Program, Developing a More Complete Student-Athlete Ecosystem

On the same occasion, DBL Indonesia also launched a new program, DBL Super Teacher. This program honors and develops the capacity of teachers who accompany student-athletes.

Through this program, four top teachers will receive the opportunity to participate in a study abroad program as a token of appreciation for their important role in shaping the character of students. Registration is available at https://dbl.id/dbl-super-teacher. (rp)
